Human papillomavirus types 16 and 18, qualitative (HPV 16, 18)

The test targets human papillomavirus types 16 and 18 genetic material in a scraping specimen. A qualitative result indicates whether the virus types covered by the test have been detected.

Detection of HPV does not mean that a person has cancer. The significance of the result is determined by the virus type and examination findings; the test does not replace cytology and clinical examination when indicated.
