About the test

Anti-Mullerian hormone is associated with the number of small growing ovarian follicles and is used as one measurement of ovarian reserve. The test helps plan selected stages of infertility treatment and assess the expected ovarian response to stimulation.

AMH does not measure egg quality and does not by itself predict the likelihood of natural pregnancy or the precise date of menopause. The result is interpreted in the context of age, clinical information, other measurements and the method used; the doctor decides on further action.

Why it is ordered

  • Complement assessment of ovarian reserve.
  • Help plan reproductive treatment.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, check the preparation and specimen collection requirements with the laboratory. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
