About the test
This test allows a culture of Candida fungi to be obtained from an agreed clinical specimen. If growth is obtained, antifungal susceptibility information may help a doctor choose treatment.
Candida may be present in the body without clinical infection. The significance of the finding depends on specimen type, symptoms and the patient’s characteristics; a culture result does not automatically mean antifungal treatment is necessary.
