About the test
ESR shows how quickly red blood cells settle in a blood sample. This price-list item specifies the Panchenkov method. The measurement changes in various inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions and provides additional guidance during investigation. It can be used to monitor an already established disease.
ESR does not identify the location or cause of a disease. Results obtained by different methods cannot always be compared directly; red blood cell properties also affect the measurement. The doctor assesses the result together with symptoms, medical history and other investigations. The reference values of the individual laboratory are used for comparison, and changes over time are considered during follow-up.
