About the test
FSH is a pituitary hormone involved in ovarian follicle maturation and support of sperm production. It is measured in menstrual cycle disorders, investigation of reduced fertility and selected disorders of sexual development.
The measurement depends on age, sex, menstrual cycle phase and hormone treatment. It is considered together with LH, sex hormones and clinical information; FSH alone does not determine the possibility of pregnancy.
