About the test

Gliadin is one of the components of gluten. This test measures IgA antibodies associated with the immune response to this protein.

It is necessary to clarify whether antibodies to native gliadin or its deamidated peptides are measured: these are different tests. The result is not equivalent to a diagnosis of coeliac disease and is not an independent check for all types of food allergy.

Why it is ordered

  • Measure the IgA antibodies covered by the test.
  • Complement investigation of suspected coeliac disease after the method has been clarified.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, ask the laboratory about preparation and specimen collection requirements. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
