About the test

ROMA-1 is an algorithm calculated from CA 125 and HE4 measurements for women before menopause. It is used as an additional tool for assessing the risk of malignancy in an already detected adnexal mass, in the preoperative clinical situations specified by the method.

It is not a screening test for healthy women or a standalone diagnosis. The algorithm does not independently determine whether surgery is needed; it is compared with ultrasound, examination and other information. Correct reporting of menopausal status is important for the calculation.

Why it is ordered

  • Complement assessment of a detected adnexal mass in premenopausal women.
  • Help the doctor determine the subsequent investigation pathway.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, check the preparation and specimen collection requirements with the laboratory. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
