Semen analysis with morphology and MAR test

This panel combines semen analysis, sperm morphology assessment and a MAR test for antisperm antibodies attached to sperm. The MAR test investigates an immune component that may affect the interaction of sperm with the reproductive system. It is considered together with conventional ejaculate characteristics; the antibody classes measured depend on the laboratory test version.

A positive MAR test does not mean inevitable infertility. When sperm numbers or motility are insufficient, the direct test may have technical limitations. The doctor assesses the result together with symptoms, medical history and other investigations. The reference values of the individual laboratory are used for comparison, and changes over time are considered during follow-up.
