About the test
Specific IgE consists of antibodies to a particular allergen. Before ordering this entry, it is necessary to clarify which specific allergen is offered and will be tested: the name “other allergens” does not define a fixed panel.
The presence of specific IgE indicates sensitisation, but not always clinical allergy. The result is compared with symptoms upon exposure; it cannot independently predict the severity of a future reaction.
