About the test

The test measures IgG antibodies to tick-borne encephalitis virus and reflects the immune response to its antigens. IgG may be present after infection or vaccination. Vaccination history, disease timing and other tests, including IgM if the doctor suspects current infection, are therefore important for assessment.

IgG alone does not confirm acute encephalitis or automatically guarantee protection against disease. Cross-reactions with related flaviviruses are possible. The doctor assesses the result together with symptoms, medical history and other investigations. The reference values of the individual laboratory are used for comparison, and changes over time are considered during follow-up.

Why it is ordered

  • Assess the IgG response to tick-borne encephalitis virus.
  • Complement investigation in the context of vaccination history.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, check the preparation and specimen collection requirements with the laboratory. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
