About the test

Anti-CCP antibodies target certain modified protein structures in the body. Their detection may support a suspicion of rheumatoid arthritis when relevant symptoms and joint changes are present.

The result is compared with examination findings, rheumatoid factor and other information. A negative result does not exclude all forms of arthritis, while a positive result alone does not establish the diagnosis or stage of disease.

Why it is ordered

  • Complement investigation of suspected rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Clarify the significance of joint symptoms alongside other results.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, ask the laboratory about preparation and specimen collection requirements. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
