About the test

PCR searches for the organism’s genetic material in a blood specimen. Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is a bacterium that causes pseudotuberculosis. Despite its name, this test is not intended to diagnose tuberculosis.

Blood and other specimens have different diagnostic value in different forms of infection. A doctor assesses the result alongside symptoms and epidemiological information.

The usefulness of a blood test depends on the clinical situation and the timing of specimen collection. The result is assessed alongside symptoms and the results of other ordered tests.

Why it is ordered

  • Detect Yersinia pseudotuberculosis genetic material in the specified specimen.
  • Complement testing when the relevant infection is clinically suspected.

How to prepare

Before taking the test, ask the laboratory about preparation and specimen collection requirements. Tell your doctor about medicines and recent treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.
