About the test
Genotyping differentiates genetic variants of the hepatitis C virus. This test does not replace initial detection of viral RNA and does not measure viral load.
A doctor may take the genotype into account when selecting a management approach, depending on the clinical situation. The ability to obtain a result depends, among other factors, on the amount of viral material and the capabilities of the test system.
